Steve and Michelle Beatty
Huntington's Disease

Steven Beatty is a Registered Nurse who works for the North Simcoe Muskoka Local Health Integration Network. In his spare time, he is a volunteer with the Huntington Society of Canada, a not-for-profit charitable organization which raises funds to deliver individual and group counselling service to support individuals and families living with Huntington disease (HD) and to fund medical research to delay or stop the progression of the disease.

Steven is part of a Huntington’s disease family himself and received a positive result on his HD predictive genetic testing in 2015. Since that time, he has developed a passion directed at advocating for the Huntington’s disease community, specifically in the underserved areas of Simcoe County and Muskoka.

Steven is the author of a book entitled "In-Between Years: Life after a positive Huntington's disease test" in which he shares his experiences and insight into remaining positive during the years following a positive HD test, but before the symptoms of the illness begin to take hold. All proceeds from the sales of this book are being donated to the Huntington Society of Canada.
