The Kempenfelt Rotary Club was chartered in 1999 with approximately 40 members and has been an active and vital part of our community since.  It is the newest of the 3 clubs in Barrie.

We are proud to say we have been very active in providing service and funding to both our local and international communities.  Our annual projects include our Kids Fishing Day, Skate with the Colts, Taste the World, Golf Tournament, and Great Canadian Beaver Race and Festival.  An outline of our various projects and the ways you can be involved is included at the end of this manual in Appendix I: Club Project Summary.

Our fundraising activities have supported numerous local organizations including the Royal Victoria Hospital, Georgian College, Big Brothers & Big Sisters, Women & Children's Crisis Centre, Hospice Simcoe, and Simcoe County Association for People with Special Needs.

At the international level, we have funded wells in India, water treatment in the Dominican Republic, and sports equipment to an orphanage in Africa, to name a few.

We have undertaken building projects such as constructing a new playground with equipment for the Women & Children's Crisis Centre and providing an outdoor classroom at the Tiffin Conservation Centre.

Our club helped establish and sponsors an Interact Club at Bear Creek Secondary School.  Interact is Rotary International's service club for young people ages 14 to 18.  Each year, Interact clubs complete at least two community service projects, one of which furthers international understanding and goodwill. Through these efforts, Interactors learn the importance of leadership, service, and contribution, much like Rotarians.

Yes, we get a great deal accomplished, but we also have a lot of fun together.  The members of our club enjoy several well attended social events throughout the year including euchre nights, an annual Christmas party, and of course, the President's Bash to thank our outgoing President and welcome the new President.

We are an energetic group of business owners and community leaders who enjoy fellowship and working together in service to our community.  We are always seeking new ideas, whether a new project, a better way of doing something, or a different social event.  New members mean new vitality to the club; we welcome you and your suggestions.
